Tom Prahl,
founder/pres. of Florida Solar Panels LLC
I have been a
technician of some sort for most of my life. As a
US Navy veteran, I served as an aviation fire
control technician on an aircraft carrier during
Vietnam. After returning to the US, I attended The
University
of Florida on the GI Bill.
Since
attending UF, I have spent eight years as a Honda
technician, over ten years in the building trade,
several years working for the state in various
positions, ending up back at UF as a Bio
Engineering Technician. Around 2 years ago, I
decided to take an early retirment to pursue my
interest in alternative and renewable
energy, which also can help reduce our
dependence on foreign oil. I have been working as a
part-time licensed, insured handyman, since leaving
UF.
I built the
house in the above photo as an owner-builder. I use
solar
to heat water and hope to incorporate
photovoltaic panels to generate
electricity in the near future. This structure can
be further explored at floridadomes.com.
